Sylvania Pharmacy burglarized
By Lindsay Slater
The Times-Journal

Published January 8, 2009

Two people broke into the Sylvania Pharmacy on Jan. 2, and police are looking for help to solve the case.

Sylvania Police Chief Brad Gregg said the burglary happened around 10:30 p.m., and the suspects stole various pills.

“They disabled the alarm system and broke out the front door,” Gregg said. “They stole pain pills, such as Lortab, Hydrocodone, and Methadone.”

The pharmacy has security cameras, but police have not been able to identify the suspects.

“They had their faces covered to the point that we are not able to identify them,” Gregg said.

According to Gregg, one of the suspects appears to be a woman or a small man and was wearing a green hoodie, camouflage pants, something similar to house shoes, black gloves and was carrying a duffle bag.

Gregg said the second suspect is definitely a man and is between 170-180 pounds, between 5-feet, 10-inches and 6-feet tall, was wearing a black sweatshirt, dark blue or dark green jacket, dark pants, black gloves, had a dark backpack and wore a red bandana over his mouth and nose.

“We were able to determine that both suspects are white,” Gregg said.

Anyone with information should call the Sylvania Police Department at 638-2604 or the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department at 845-3801.

$6,000 worth of Oxycotin stolen
By TAVIA D. GREEN • The Leaf-Chronicle • February 24, 2009

A Montgomery County pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint Monday evening and more than $6,000 of medication was taken.

According to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office report, at about 5:30 p.m. a pharmacy worker reported an unknown man entered the pharmacy located in the 300 block of Hwy 149, jumped over the counter and demanded all of their Oxycotin and methadone while brandishing a gun.

The man pulled out a kitchen garbage bag and told the workers to do what they were told or he would shoot them.

The pharmacy employees put the medication in the bag and the man jumped over the counter and fled on foot, according to the report.

The man fled with 1,606 tablets valued at $6,110.46.

The man was described as a white male who looked to be about 20 years old. He was wearing a dark hoodie and black ski mask.

MELBOURNE -- A man was arrested Sunday while he was trying to rob a Walgreens.

Officers said Shawn Miller, 27, walked into a Walgreens on North Harbor City Boulevard, wearing sunglasses, a camouflage baseball hat, and a white cloth covering his face.

Miller reportedly gave the pharmacist a note stating he wanted some specific drugs. He also showed the handle of a handgun.

He was given some Methadone, but while he was waiting for other narcotics, Melbourne officers and Brevard deputies took Miller into custody.

2 men held in Warsaw robbery

Holly AbramsThe Journal Gazette
July 9, 2009

Two men were arrested Wednesday after they robbed a Warsaw drugstore, police said.

Warsaw police said two men entered Zale's Drug Store at 1775 E. Center St. just after 3 p.m. Wednesday with a note demanding painkilling narcotics - OxyContin and methadone.

The two men were given the drugs by employees and then left in a sport utility vehicle.

A description of the suspects and their getaway vehicle was broadcast by police dispatchers.

An off-duty officer in his police cruiser saw two men matching the description and stopped them near Cook and Arthur streets in Warsaw, police said.

Warsaw residents Jamey Roberts, 23, and Troy Craig, 42, both face preliminary charges of robbery.

Both were being held without bail.

[iWarsaw family busted for two drugstore robberies

WARSAW — A woman and her uncle were arrested for robbing a Warsaw Walgreens four days after her father and her boyfriend were arrested for robbing another Warsaw drugstore.

Police say Traci Craig, 20, of Warsaw walked into a Walgreens at 2400 E. Center Street on Saturday at 8:02 p.m.. She handed a note to the pharmacist that said the pharmacist should not speak to anyone and demanding a bottle of methadone or the pharmacist would be shot, police said. She did not display a weapon.

Traci then ran from the store, getting in a red pickup driven by a male who was later identified as Traci’s uncle, 43-year-old Todd Craig, according to police.

An officer watching surveillance footage of the robbery recognized Traci, as she had been to the police department on Friday to recover items from a Chevrolet Blazer that was involved in a robbery of Warsaw’s Zale’s Drug Store on Wednesday, July 8.

Traci’s father, Troy, and her boyfriend, Jamey Roberts, had been arrested and charged for the Zale’s robbery.

Police found Traci and her uncle Todd at Whispering Pines Trailer Park, located at 340 E. Levi Lee Road on Sunday. Officers say the two were lethargic and acting strangely. An ambulance was called, and it was determined that the two had injected methadone. They were taken Kosciusko Community Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit.

Both were released from the hospital on Sunday. Traci was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of robbery. Todd was preliminarily charged with aiding and abetting a robbery.
